HOW WE STARTED:
Our journey started in the aftermath of the catastrophic Uttarakhand Floods in June 2013. Moved by the scale of the disaster, our Founder and International Development Consultant, Dr. Farukh, travelled to Uttarakhand with the intention of volunteering for a week. However, what began as a short visit extended into months. During this time, he witnessed firsthand the critical gaps in disaster management - a lack of expertise, resources, and proper coordination. Determined to make a difference, upon his return, he established Rapid Response, India’s first NGO dedicated specifically to disaster relief and response.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY:
With the tireless support of our dedicated staff, board and volunteers, Rapid Response continue to respond to disasters across India. In the past 12 years, we have responded to 33 disasters and impacted over 1 million lives!
