PUNJAB FLOODS
HOW WE STARTED:
Rapid Response was born in the aftermath of the devastating Uttarakhand floods of June 2013. Deeply moved by the scale of destruction and human suffering, our Founder Dr. Farukh travelled to Uttarakhand as a volunteer to support affected communities. What began as a short humanitarian visit soon turned into months of service on the ground. During this period, he witnessed significant gaps in disaster management, including limited expertise, inadequate resources, and weak coordination during emergency response. Driven by the urgent need for a dedicated disaster focused organization, he founded Rapid Response - India’s first NGO established exclusively for disaster relief and humanitarian action.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY:
With the tireless support of our dedicated staff and volunteers, Rapid Response continue to respond to disasters across India. In the past 12 years, we have responded to 34 disasters and impacted over 1 million lives!
